One thing you can do to check if the game is successfully merged, is download VBA (which is like 30 Mb) and open the Rom from there. For example, if I merged Pokemon Liquid Crystal with Pokemon Fire Red, the Rom itself will be under Pokemon Fire Red simply change or rename it.
Now that the Rom is merged with the base game, the actual Rom is under the name of the base game. If done properly, the application itself will tell you so.
For either, first choose the Rom file and then the base game (which you will have to extract in most cases from a zipped file in "downloads"), and click on "Continue" or whatever button is at the very bottom of the application. Open Lunar IPS for IPS files and Tsukuyomi for UPS. Now, (to merge games) download the stated base game for the Rom as well as the Rom's UPS or IPS file (the file ends in either UPS or IPS after you extract it from its zipped file in "downloads"). Afterwards, you will need the base game that the Rom you are trying to download is based off of, for example ROM Pokemon Liquid Crystal has Pokemon Fire Red as its base game to find this, just go to Pokecommunity's hack studio and look at the very left of the Rom you are trying to download, or if you are on the page of the Rom you are trying to download, then simply scroll to the top where the title is, which is where the base game will be stated towards the very left of the title of the Rom. These applications can be found via Google. For IPS, use Lunar IPS application and for UPS use Tsukuyomi (I may have misspelled this). In order to get the Rom to work, you will need an application that matches the type of the file given there ate usually two types of files given: IPS and UPS.
Pokecommunity is legally prohibited from distributing Rom downloads directly, so they distribute patch files for the Roms.
